One water system for almost the whole township
Almost all of Woodbridge — 98% of the township’s area — lies in Middlesex Water Company’s service area.[2] If Middlesex Water is on your water bill, its report with 2025 results is the one to read. It puts hardness at 157 ppm on average, ranging from 90 to 308[3] — “hard” by the U.S. Geological Survey’s measure.[4]
That is not a Woodbridge peculiarity: hard water is simply everywhere in this part of New Jersey. On a dishwasher it shows up as white film on glassware, scale on the heating element and blocked spray arm holes. If we see clear signs of it we will say so and suggest a softening filter — a recommendation rather than something we push. Our dishwasher page has more.
